Restricted calls
If a funder limits the number of applications an institution can submit, or requires institutional coordination, an internal selection process is used.
Which calls are restricted?
The Research Strategy Office maintains a list of current (live) restricted calls and recurrent restricted calls.
The following funding calls of particular interest to the School of Technology are restricted:
How to apply to a restricted call
For each restricted call, information is circulated via email with full instructions on how to apply, templates, and all internal deadlines. Applicants submit an internal outline application to the University selection process, and selected applicants are then invited to write their full application.
School of Technology Assessment Process
Most restricted calls are submitted directly to the Research Strategy Office, but a few require School ranking/selection first.
The School operates a transparent selection process based on the quality of the applications received, with a strong emphasis on promoting equality and diversity amongst applicants.
The School has a Pool of Assessors who review applications to help with School selection and ranking of Restricted Calls. Final ranking and selection decisions are made by the Head and Deputy Head of School (Research).
Academics involved in the selection and assessment processes, including those serving on the Pool of Assessors, are required to complete the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Unconscious Bias (UB training).
