Widening Participation and Student Opportunities
Looking to broaden your experience? The School of Technology participates in the following programmes.
PhD:AIM programme
AIM: PhD is an application support programme, designed to support PhD applicants with their application for doctoral study at the University of Cambridge. Over the course of six months, participants receive support to prepare their PhD application through one-to-one mentoring and group online sessions. The 2025 programme will support applicants who intend to apply to begin study in October 2026.
Summer Research Experience Placements (TREP)
The School of Technology offers a limited number of eight-week paid summer research placements for current undergraduate students from other Universities. Applicants who meet the essential and widening participation criteria will be selected through a competitive process to join research groups, receive practical training, and experience Cambridge college life. This is a unique opportunity to gain real research experience, develop key skills, and strengthen your prospects for postgraduate study.
Widening Participation PhD studentships
The School annually funds a certain number of PhD studentships aligned to PhD programmes receiving EPSRC funding. See here for relevant courses. Applicants applying to these courses will automatically be considered for the WP PhD studentships.
