Governance
Governance
The School of Technology plays an important role in the University's governance. All Departments and Faculties belong to one of the University's six academic Schools. A Council of the School governs each School. Representatives from each School's Faculties, Institutes, and Departments make up the Councils. These School Councils coordinate and make decisions for their respective institutes and departments. They filter academic matters before they go to the General Board, which has responsibility for the academic and educational policy of the University.
Each School's Council can report to the University and has duties delegated to it by the General Board. These include including allocating funds and preparing academic and financial plans. Other School-level committees support decision-making in particular areas, such as education. You can read more about the committees of the School of Technology, including the Council of the School.
Risk Management
Effective risk management helps the University to deliver its objectives and improve its performance. It also helps to protect the reputation and sustainability of the University.
The School of Technology's risk register (internal only) is updated every six months. It is regularly monitored between updates. Each risk has two "owners" within the School Office, one academic and one professional services staff member. Updates are informed by the School’s Departments and the University’s risk register. Risk owners describe what the risks are and identify mitigating actions for each of them. The Council of the School approve the risk register annually, and it feeds into the overall University's risk register.
