Working Group on Human Research Participants in Technology and Physical Sciences

This committee is concerned with establishing policy for research in the Cambridge Schools of Technology and Physical Sciences, specifically where that research involves ‘human participants’ – people recruited from outside the immediate research team – to evaluate technology or conduct research into the design and management of technology.

Not within the remit of the committee are:

  1. medical research conducted within the schools, for which there are established procedures;
  2. review of research ethics and governance within the schools more generally;
  3. research involving animals (because we are a working group on human participants).

Initiated by Alan Blackwell in October 2008, the working group has been meeting formally since July 2009.
