VC Awards PhD Studentships 2019

Deadline for applications 26 April 2019

The School of Technology has recently been allocated some additional funds from the Vice Chancellors Awards Scheme which has opened up a further opportunity to provide PhD studentships for an October 2019 start. We intend to use this to match 50% funding for six interdisciplinary studentships across the School.

Specific criteria are:
•    The project should be interdisciplinary, where the primary supervisor is based in a department in the School of Technology and the second supervisor or advisor is based in another department either within or outside of the School.
•    There must be matched funding available (50%) of a full studentship costed at £100K, where fees and stipend are approximately £85K with £15K allocated for researcher training and support. Matched funding can be provided from industry, colleges or departmental sources.
•    The funding is for 3.5 years at the Home rate

If you have any potential students that match these criteria, please apply by 26 April 2019 sending us the following:
•    Names and departments of supervisor and second supervisor
•    Details of the student including their full application form, the student scoring (as per standard funding competition rules)
•    A short project summary, including the nature of the interdisciplinary activity.

As students must start in October 2019 we would like to be able to secure the best candidates as early as we can. We will assess applications in April 2019 and aim to make awards at the end of April. If any funding remains we will continue to look at applications in May-June.

Please submit applications to the School of Technology Office on
