School of Technology Transferable Skills
Introduction
The School of Technology is committed to helping all its staff and
students to develop their general skills as well as pursuing high
quality research. The School is challenging its Departments to ensure
that all research students and post-doctoral researchers:
- pursue creative and original research;
- enjoy supportive and rewarding supervision; and
- participate in and learn from training in transferable skills
In particular, it provides training in communication (including teaching) as well as management skills and commercial awareness, to fully equip researchers for the professional demands of modern academic life and employment in R&D.
Research students and post-doctoral researchers are encouraged to develop clear individual career development plans, and to devote at least 10 days each year to appropriate training. 1-2-1 skills analysis sessions are available to help individuals produce a personal development plan.
